Meliá brands

There are 7 main brands under the Meliá umbrella.

Melia Hotels Brands International

Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts

Gran Melia Hotels & Resorts is Meliá´s traditional luxury brand with some 11 hotels and resorts spread across Europe and Asia, 8 of which are in Spain. This brand offers prestigious locations with great detail to architecture, personal service and high-end dining. At this brand, you can also find RedLevel superior rooms and suites and RedLevel lounges.

ME by Meliá

ME by Melia is Meliá´s more modern hip luxury brand focusing mostly on the younger (at least younger at heart) crowd visiting top destinations. ME is set to be a daring social epicentre with a focus on art, music, service and design. There are 7 ME by Melia properties – in Madrid, Ibiza, Sitges, London, Milan and Dubai. You will not find a lounge at this brand, but you might be spoilt by other personalized details during your stay.

Paradisus by Meliá

Paradisus by Meliá is Meliá´s luxury all-inclusive resort brand with 9 beachfront resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Paradisus is your luxury resort family escape or a romantic getaway with a spa and wellness by the beach.

Meliá Hotels & Resorts

Meliá Hotels & Resorts is the standard Meliá upscale experience, be it in a city hotel or beach resort. There are over 100 hotels under this brand, mostly in Spain, making it an easy-to-find option for your trips with a predictable comfort at a reasonable price. At this brand, you can also find The Level category rooms and the Level lounges.

INNSIDE by Meliá

INNSIDE by Meliá is a younger upscale brand of Meliá targeting city travellers. There are 28 INNSIDE hotels in 10 countries and each hotel is trying to offer you some insight (or innside) into the local culture. You will not find a lounge at this brand.

TRYP by Wyndham

Strangely, TRYP by Wyndham appears under the Meliá umbrella and it is a bit confusing as TRYP was a Meliá brand later acquired by Wyndham Hotels but you cannot book many TRYP hotels via Wyndham Hotel’s website. However, you can book some TRYP hotels via Meliá and you can also use your Melia Rewards points here. TRYP has mostly city hotels, often near the airport. Due to the unclear 2in1 brand structure, it is difficult to know what to expect here when it comes to loyalty status recognition, be it with Meliá Rewards or Wyndham Rewards. Right now, there is 45 TRYP hotel that you can book via Meliá website and all can be booked using cash or points.

Sol by Meliá

Sol by Meliá is a mid-level resort brand of Meliá with some 70 hotels in popular beach destinations, mostly in the Mediterranean. Sol by Meliá is a typical mainstream family package destination with many child-friendly attractions and activities. Some Sol hotels are all-inclusive, while others try to offer a more fine-dining experience. There also seem to be significant differences between the Sol hotels with some being old and run-down just with basic rooms, some more stylish with modern suites and the majority probably somewhere in between. Also, don´t expect to find a lounge at this brand.

MeliáRewards – the loyalty program of Meliá

MeliáRewards allows you to collect points for your stays with Meliá, earn loyalty status and maximize the value of your stays. There are 4 levels: White, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

First, let´s see what benefits are associated with each status.

MeliáRewards White

This is the initial level you will be assigned when registering with Meliá. You will receive 2.000 points as a welcome present and you will be earning 10 points per EUR/USD spent.

As a member, you get 5% lower prices while booking online, you can do online check-in and you will also receive a birthday present (discount code, upgrade or points)

MeliáRewards Silver

At silver level you earn 11 points per EUR/USD spent and you have also guaranteed free WIFI. The interesting part here is that you can also have a free breakfast for your companion (only applies to reservations with accommodation rate only). This means that if you book a stay for 2 people and then decide to have a breakfast, you will pay breakfast only for 1 person instead of two.

MeliáRewards Gold

As a Gold member you earn 13 points per EUR/USD spent and on top of the Silver benefits, you also get 3 vouchers for a 20% discount on stays. You can use the discount code at any Meliá hotel anywhere in the world and there is no limit to the duration of the stay meaning you can book 2 weeks and receive 20% of the total stay just using one discount code.

You can also benefit from priority access when you arrive at the hotel and late check-out in holiday hotels until 2pm and 4pm in city hotels (except when hotel is 100% full).

MeliáRewards Platinum

Platinum is the highest status with Melia and also the one where you can see some valuable benefits. Being a Platinum member you earn 15 points per EUR/USD spent and on top of the Gold benefits, you can also look forward to an upgrade to a superior room and access to hotel lounges where available. Additionally, you also receive Priority Pass membership to access airport VIP lounges. You can also earn Platinum for Life if you maintain it for 10 consecutive years.

You can find the detail conditions in Meliá´s Term&Conditions which are hiding in the registration page.

Overall, the elite levels are quite easy to understand and the benefits are quite comparable with other programmes. Free breakfast for a companion on a Silver status is nice and very easy to achieve. However, not having a free breakfast for the status holder even with the Platinum status is something that is quite disappointing and not seen with other chains.
