Unlike most of the Spanish Mediterranean coast, the Denia area is full of pine trees and very green overall. The Marriott Denia hotel is a golf resort located inland, some 15min from Denia beach town, and in general, you need a car to get there. Having a car, the hotel is a great starting point for trips in the area, you can also rent a bike and explore that way, or just stay playing golf and chill by the pool.
Hotel and location
8/10
- Very calm and quiet location with a large golf course surounded by pine trees.
- Great starting point for bike or car trips in the area but walking around the scenery is not as impressive (the last picture is by the coast some 20min away by car).
- This is an older hotel but clearly most parts have been renovated and everything seemed modern and well maintained.
- The room was a good size, simple elegant design with lots of wooden elements seemed well fitting into the area.
Food and service
8/10
- The breakast was a buffet with a good selection of sweet and salty option with an omelet station, but overall I didn´t find the quality or selection too impressive for a 5-star hotel. For example, the inability to order a cappucino within breakfast is something I find frustrating.
- We are in the Montgo restaurant by the golf course and also in the La Nao Launge by the pool – in both cases the food was decent but again nothing special, but the prices were reasonable with selection of pizzas, pasta or burgers for around 12-15EUR.
- I was looking forward to their Thai restaurant but unfortunately, it´s closed during winter.
- The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk who gave us tips on where to go and helped us with printing and scanning documents.
- Big shout out to the Front Office Manager, Cristina, who gave us 1 night for free for having to cancel our previous booking last minute due to Covid restrictions, really nice gesture, well appreciated.
Titanium benefits with Marriott Bonvoy
8/10
- Thanks to our Marriott status we got upgraded to superior room, but not suite. I belive they didn´t have any available as the hotel was quite busy. The ratio of suites vs other rooms is very low so the chances of suite upgrade here are low in general.
- We have received some macrons on arrival and 2 bottles of water daily.
- Since this is a Marriott resort hotel, per standards, there is no lounge or any area reserved for elite members only.
- Besides the room upgrade, I couldn´t notice any other elite benefits in this hotel.
Overall, it was a really pleasant extended weekend here and the weather in December was fantastic.
